Buy Pressed Flowers
Pressed flowers were popular in the Victorian era, but has been revived in the last few decades. Japanese use pressed flowers to create Oshibana Art. This is very delicate and beautiful.
There are a variety of presses that can be used for pressing flowers, such as the homemade or air dry presses, microwave presses and pressing in books. Depending on the flowers to be pressed, one would use a specific press for that particular flower for best results. For instance, it is best to use the microwave press for pressing Pansies, Violas and Martha Washington geraniums. With flowers that discolor with higher pressure, then it is necessary to use extra padding when pressing. Flowers that fall into this category are white Anemones and white Roses; also when pressing Black-eyed Susan's or Sunflowers these need extra padding as these have thick centers.
Most foliage can be successfully pressed in books just make sure enough pressure is applied to keep them from wrinkling and make sure they are completely dry before removing them. If leaves are removed before completely dry, it will result in curling or wrinkling
It is important for the avid collector of flowers and foliage to develop a cataloguing system with proper labeling with names of each flower and foliage. This makes retrieval very fast and easy.
